Southwest Gas Energy Program Saves Hotel $15,000 Annually
Phoenix-based Easy Energy is excited to announce the completed installation of its waste heat generator at the Clarion Hotel in Phoenix. When operating, the waste heat generator or CHP system will provide the hotel’s electricity for the guestrooms as well as heat the pool, spa and water for the guestrooms.
Combined heat and power, also known as waste heat generation or CHP, is a well-proven technology with a 30 year history and is often deployed in commercial and industrial applications where there is a constant demand for both heat and electricity.
With utility costs rising and the declining costs of clean-burning natural gas this makes the waste heat generator or CHP a viable solution for commercial businesses. “We had to find a way to decrease our electricity costs without impacting the comfort and services for our hotel guests,” says James Evanoff, general manager of Clarion Hotel Phoenix. “We like Easy Energy’s waste heat power solution because it offers savings during peak-demand utility periods, which coincides with the check-in times of our guests during the summer months.”
Jose Esparza, Southwest Gas director of Energy Services adds, “Southwest Gas is proud to support waste heat and CHP efficiency projects like the Clarion Hotel in Phoenix with an estimated $80,000 in rebates to Clarion through our program. We encourage other businesses with a central plant operation to investigate the cost savings and environmental benefits of a combined heat and power system installation.”
